HELENE is a 2025 horror short film directed by Reese Carmen Villella about a woman struggling with physical intimacy whose attempt to connect with her boyfriend triggers a disturbing transformation. The film itself was inspired by other cinematic works such as Repulsion, Possession, and the works of David Cronenberg; the goal was to create a poster that invoked the posters of those films (and the others that inspired the filmmaker) while also conveying a distinctly feminine and more pop-art sensibility. The director wanted two posters, one a more traditional close-up style poster, hazy and evocative; and another more abstract in vivid in its imagery; wherein I really flexed my collage skills.
