PLASTER SAINTS is a 2026 dramedy short film directed by Carolina Caruso about how power degrades relationships seen through three friends getting ready for a party. Throughout the film itself there's a lot of visual callbacks to different authoritarian regimes throughout history, and strong stylistic choices made to reinforce the dystopian surveillance state our main characters live in. Carolina initially had three ideas in mind for what the poster could encompass. One was a more minimalistic style, which places visual focus on the relationships between the main characters. The second was a direct take on Cold War era design aesthetics (including propaganda from across the world), with an emphasis on surveillance and the idea of Big Brother being omnipresent. The third was a more playful, feminine element, as she likened the tone the short to "Mean Girls meets The Zone of Interest". In the end, I was able to produce a final concept that met all three. I've also included three other unselected concepts I presented to Carolina, as a means of showing my own process and how I sought to apply those ideas provided by her brief in different ways.
